Product Review: Wolfe Brothers Cheat Book V3: Animals
May 20, 2010
Description: $15.00
Typical Wolfe construction of spiral bound, 4″/5.5″, glossy card stock, no words, all pictures, some “cheek art”/half face and some full face depending on your definition.
My Full Face definition is that you turn the model into the animal/character.
7 out of 15 designs are “on” the face not “of” the face, if you catch my drift. No? You don’t catch that drift? You should consider standing downwind next time :P
Pros:
- Excellent quality photos
- Designs you probably haven’t seen in other books yet
- Nicely executed and super cute half face/cheek art animals
- Style. You know when it’s a Wolfe design. And I want someone to do the Insect design on me in Florida. You hear me, Wolfies?
Cons:
- I would only use 1, maybe 2 designs on a job out of this book: the Fish (Cute but I like Christina Davison’s better) and the Chimp (Shannon’s version works for me b/c it is faster)
- No color descriptions
- I HATE books & DVDs that don’t give details on how to do the cover art. Hate Hate Hate! You advertise with the cover- that is how you got my attention, isn’t it? Show me what I want, dang it!
- Also, beginner beware. This is not for you. Buy it for inspiration but don’t get discouraged.
Don’t miss these designs (even if you never use them, they are still awesome!):
- Bluejay
- Fish
- Chimp
- T-Rex
- Insect
Overall: Was it worth my $15? Yes. But I like Face Painting books a lot. If you only want new ideas for designs for gigs, this is not for you.
